Four guys, eight rivers, four days

And the opening day finaly came. This year we kept the team at four guys but we extended the days and the area we usually cover at opening.

So this was the team for this year:

The start was good, everyone was kind of expecting to get a fish in the first three casts…but that morning was going to be tough…

We came prepared with food suplies

But winter was still  around.

We search for them in deep water…

…under the trees…

…under the falls…

We changed the flies and the setups…

…and we got just a few of them.

In the first afternoon this was the biggest fish landed

Day 2 :

We split in two teams one going upstream and the other  one downstream.

New aproach techniques

Start to look around…

Tried the egg pattern

…and I put on the fly : little black-something…

Nice spring signs

But you never know what is hiding under these beautiful flowers…

The hiking-fishing marathon continues…

Image

…through very high and fast water

In the mean time the other team got to the favorite place…see that look?

Image

…and started catching fish

But the day was not finished. After lunch we started  fishing another section of the third river.

And…we found them:

The day finished  me fighting with a big brown, who after 4 minutes of running-jumping cut my line with his teeth. But I know where it is and I’m coming back… 🙂

Stay tuned, day 3 and 4 are coming with 4 new rivers.

  1. Nice all around, I nearly forget what a fish looks like up here. Endless frozen wilderness with nothing swimming around. My timing is bad, I leave here just as things thaw, to come back to Ontario just as things hide. June we must make big things happen.
